Shocking! Super Eagles May Not Attend 2018 World Cup Qualifiers

Funding for the Super Eagles has suffered to the point that it risks World Cup disqualification. Although the team has had its bonuses suspended for six months, the Nigerian Football Federation (NFF) now says it is so broke that it cannot afford to fly the players to Zambia for next month’s qualifier.

A top official of NFF was quoted as saying: “We need about N85m to take care of the match against Zambia on October 9, but as we speak, we don’t have any kobo in our purse.

We have appealed to Globacom to come to our aid by footing the bills. We are still waiting for response from the FG. The charges for the Airline alone is $200,000 for a 140-seater plane, and it will be on ground with the team for two days.

We need between $6,000 and $10,000 for flight ticket to bring in the players. Their bonuses alone are within the range of N30m. We don’t have any kobo in our purse right now, hence the need for us to approach Glo to come to our aid.”

Looking at the cost stated above is not quite that high as to compare to amount of money being lavished by most of our Politicians here in the country. We expect the Super Eagles get help from Prominent Men in the Country, certainly I know the Super Eagles will attend that Qualifiers and even the competition itself.

No doubts, the country is facing a strong economic recession but some important thing still needs to be carried out in whatever way.
The Federal Government should not allow such disgrace for the Country to come through, Sometimes i wonder if this NFF officials cannot advice themselves by saying goodbye to greed and come with a budget for the Super Eagle Players to acquire their own Private jets so that when issues like this comes up, they will be faced with the problem of its movement and maintenance but due to the money they acquire by Over Padding the cost of expenses when submitting budget for each tournament to the Federal Government, they won’t like to have a Private Jet for the Super Eagles.

What is d presidential fleet for….cnt it be used to save cost…..this government is a big disgrace….NFF should start seeking sponsors n forget about this over reliance on FG

    • WillieBravo

Wonderful point, can’t they at least give them one of the jets and just fuel it? He has about 11 jets on his fleet if I’m not mistaken. And he he doesn’t even do anything for the nation to deserve that kind of luxury. Smh
